- Erasmus + Mobility programme “Improving Competences and Skills through European mobility”
2019/2020 24 students and 8 staff members participate in Erasmus + Mobility programme “Improving Competences and Skills through European mobility”. Continuous development and quality of services is very important for Astangu VRC. To be able to look into the future and offer sustainable solutions, the development must take place at individual level of the specialists and students and managers who create and develop the whole organization together. Developing of both workspecific skills and general competencies (ability in iniating action and change, communication skills and openness) are equally important for that.
Our need is to create possibilities for the ongoing development of staff by training and offering different experiences both on national and international levels. We see that mobility activities have a huge impact on professional development, increasing motivation and inspiration, applying innovative methodologies, take initiative in developing the whole system for vocational education and training and see their own possibilities and abilities.
Equally important is to offer the same possibilities for the students with special needs, to enrich their professional competence and personal development and open them for new experiences. As students and specialists work hand in and on an equal level at Astangu, we find it very relevant for both groups to be open-minded and open for change. Our students are the future employees in different establishments and international experience will support their view of the world and themselves.
24 students can participate in the mobility project: 8 studying carpentry, 8 studying to become assistant chef, 8 studying IT. The internships take place in Finland Kiipula Vocational School https://www.kiipula.fi/ and in Germany Mariaberg Center https://www.mariaberg.de/ with vocational training centres and companies.
8 staff members can participate in the European mobility to Germany, Mariaberg's a educational institution.
The project has 2 main goals:
1. To offer the students of Astangu VRC in vocational education a professional European mobility to support their competitiveness through growth of their professional and social skills. The aim is fulfilled by working and living in foreign environment.
2. To develop the competence of specialists and employees of Astangu VRC through international co-operation experience and new practical services/methodologies in order for them to participate in developing the field of vocational education for people with disabilities and be motivated and open to international context (including migration). Also to learn to empower and support the students on their way to the labour market.
The result will show in new professional skills and knowledge for all participants, increased social skills and acitivity, increased self-confidence and self-efficacy, motivation and better fluency in foreign languages (mainly English).
New methodologies and ways of working will be tested and implemented as a direct outcome of the staff mobility. International co-operation with partners will be ongoing and stronger for continuous developement of all parties.
By fulfilling the aims of the project we support the strategic goals at Astangu, in Estonia and Europe in general, including transition from vocational education to the labour market, social inclusion and innovation.
- SEC4VET – Assessing and promoting the Social-Emotional Competence of young people with cognitive impairments in Vocational Education and Training
The SEC4VET project brings together vocational training and rehabilitation institutions for people with special needs from six European countries - Germany, Italy, Portugal, Hungary, Estonia and Belgium - and the University of Bamberg from Germany to jointly develop tools for assessing and promoting socio-emotional skills in vocational training.
The project aims to raise general awareness and pay more attention to socio-emotional skills in the process of vocational rehabilitation, thereby contributing to the empowerment and involvement of the target group.
As a result of the project, assessment and learning tools will be developed to enable teachers and other professionals, who work with young people with cognitive disabilities, to be able to recognize and develop the skills they need in the context of employment and independent living.
The project will develop 4 tools:
• A diagnostic tool for measuring socio-emotional skills, which ensures an individual approach to future skill development
• Handbook on the importance of socio-emotional skills
• An understanding of how to promote socio-emotional skills
• Training modules for VET staff and other professionals
The tools developed as a result of the SEC4VET project will be published and made freely accessible to all.
The SEC4VET project will end with an international symposium in Josefsheim Bigge, Germany in June 2020.

- LIVING E-motions - Emotional education through visual storyliving for people with mental health challenges
Four European countries are behind this idea – Estonia, Spain, Slovenia and Scotland from the UK. During this 2 year Erasmus+ programme (Dec 2018 – Nov 2020) a complete curriculum and an innovative methodology based on visual storyliving are going to be created to help people living with mental health issues to recognize and manage their feelings. LIVING E-MOTIONS is a training course particularly designed to meet the emotional learning needs of people living with mental health challenges. The participants will have the opportunity to share their stories with others in their home country and all over Europe through the LIVING E-MOTIONS e-learning platform.
The methodology is based on VISUAL STORYLIVING, meaning that the learners will share their reflections on their own emotions and recovery experiences on camera; opening their story to the rest of the world. They are the protagonists and heroes of their own story. LIVING E-MOTIONS will increase social and digital competencies as well as increasing wellbeing and improving quality of life.
As a result of the LIVING E-MOTIONS project a training programme on emotional education using visual storyliving is developed and piloted. The aim is to improve the participants’ social and communication skills, wellbeing and quality of life. The outcomes of the training programme have been introduced to different mental health organizations and live events have been held, in which the participants share their recovery stories. Also the LIVING E-MOTIONS e-platform has been created to raise awareness in the general society to see recovering from mental health problems as more positive and inspiring perspective and to explain the myths surrounding mental health issues.
- Development of a training curriculum on emotional education using visual storyliving. It will be tested during 8 months in two pilot experiences.
- Development of key competences of people with mental health challenges to improve their quality of life.
- Creation and maintaining of the Living e-motions e-learning platform.
- Creation of a portfolio including the main stories of recovery detected during the pilot courses.
- Filming short videos where the participants will explain about their emotions and their recovery story.
- Organization of live events where the participants tell everybody about their recovery story.
- Creation of on-line blogs to train digital as well as literacy and narrative skills.
- Implementation of a dissemination campaign to open a window to the general society to a reality without filters, just the truth from a positive and inspiring perspective

- SKILLS- Skills and Knowledge In Lifelong Learning
The Project name SKILL stands for Skills and Knowledge In Lifelong Learning. SKILLS project brings together four countries:Finland, Lithuania, Estonia and Faroe Islands. SKILLS is a two-year project, a thematic network that intends to form new permanent relations for further mobilities of adult
students and members of staff. The shared theme for the adult learners involved in this project is to
develop the knowledge and the importance of informal lifelong learning.
The aim of this project is also to find Nordic work and study shadowing experiences for adult students
with special needs and for specialists in the field. The educational organizations taking part in this
project are rehabilitation centres, sheltered work shops or/and vocational schools with students with
special needs. The purpose of the intended project is to improve and empower the life skills and the
employability of the people with special needs.
The participant organizations in this Project are Spesia Vocational College, Astangu Vocational
Rehabilitation Centre, Valakupiai Rehabilitation Centre and Dugni Vocational College. In this thematic
Network the main focus is to offer the vocational students with special needs an opportunity to improve
the life skills through the actions and activities carried out in the Project. The aim is to make the informal
learning "visible"; to raise the awareness of the importance of everyday life skills.

- SSIQ4U-Specialized Sport-Instructor Qualification For You
This project brings together four countries:Italy, Estonia, Lithuania and Spain. The expected result in this project is a “curriculum for qualification of sports instructor who works with people
with disabilities”. The curriculum will be tested in practice and disseminated to sports clubs/facilities and rehabilitation centers.
Other expected outcomes are:
1. A profile for sports instructor who works with people with disabilities.
2. Guidelines and recommendations - to provide the best instructions and sports activities to people with disabilities
The project will use the European Qualification Framework for describing the outcomes of the Sport-
Instructor Curriculum, that will facilitate the acceptance and dissemination across different EU countries and
education and training systems in these countries.
Project period is January 2019 - June 2020.
- Digital Innovation in Vocational Education and Training
In the project "Digital Invitation", 10 VET institutions from 8 European countries meet in total 6 times to discuss the topic of digitization in the field social work, focussed on the vocational education and training, to present each other with best practice models. All workshops follow the same pattern. Thus, implementation models and / or current developments are presented from all institutions. Afterwards, an intense discussion with common conclusions and a so-called SWOT (Strengths-Weaknesses-Threats-Opportunities) -analysis by the participants will be given, recorded and thereby objectified the respective project dimension. There is a workshop documentation for each workshop, which will also be designed according to a fixed structure. After the end of the project, all documentation and results will be made available to interested parties.
